Seigniorage: greedy Central
Bank of Iraq issuing ALSO the coins - July 9, 2007
On January 2005, the new Iraqi Dinar Coin series in the denominations
of 25 and 100 were launched by Central Bank of Iraq. The new currency
is one currency for the entire country of Iraq.
It is worth noting that the coins are issued by the Central Bank istead
of by the Treasury Ministry. I.e. the coins' seigniorage is withheld
from the government. In most western countries the Central Banks leave
the metallic seigniorage to the Treasury Ministry, like it happens in
the US or Europe. But in Iraq the new Central Bank is so greedy that
this is not the case.
We propose to them to issue next coins made of DEPLETED URANIUM.
